Iñigo Arguibide: "It is an honor, something I have dreamed of since I was a kid"

The Osasuna academy product spoke to the media after his contract extension was announced

Defender Iñigo Arguibide addressed the media after signing a contract extension with Osasuna through the 2029-30 season.

"For me, like any other Navarrese, it is a dream to represent the team from my homeland, and it is an honor to be here," Arguibide said.

When asked about starting all seven league games, the Huarte native said:

"Any player gains confidence when he is on the field, and with the contract extension, it becomes even more important. I need to keep going," Arguibide said. "I try to take advantage of all the opportunities I get. So far, I think I have done well and have earned my reward. I can always improve, and I will keep working to achieve good things."

Cata: "This renewal is an example of the path for every homegrown player"

Arguibide was joined by sporting director José Antonio "Cata," who highlighted the importance of renewing homegrown players as a sign of the club's commitment to its youth.

"For Osasuna, this renewal is an example of the path for every homegrown player. He was a striker for Gazte Berriak, joined Tajonar, climbed the ladder, reached the first team, took advantage of his opportunity and became an important player, which shows how the development process comes full circle," Cata said. "He is young, born in 2005, and still has room to grow, but he has the physique, the mentality and the maturity — both personally and on the field — so I think we are all convinced he has to be one of the two right fullbacks for our team in the coming years."
